Updater

Zombie Tag is now almost complete with an auto updater.

Just give it some time - I'm going to try and merge it into one exe and extract the updater.

Any news on the game? Bugs, features wanted, etc?

Eliyahu is failing on the AI and such (I think he said he doesn't have time/interest)

Flash is a no go - blast doesn't work in flash, making this game improbable. Oh well, still a pretty sweet game.

Bug fixes

New bug fixes/features:

  • Beeping with arrow keys
  • Enter works on beginning screen
  • Editbox unfocuses when subapp is up
  • The game doesn't restart, instead it lets you play one game after the other
  • Fog doesn't appear
  • Zombies can't win the second time
  • "GO" button becomes visible during intro

Bugs that have been reported:

  • Having to restart multiple times

Features wanted:

  • Button instead of "/start"
  • 30 second warning instead of 10 and 5

I still need some things from everyone -

- Feedback on Line of Sight (LOS)/Fog of War
- Feedback on the ratio of Zombie speed to Human speed

Right now there is only fog of war for zombies, and there is no LOS

Zombies can go a pixel faster - but its randomized. It's a 50/50 chance they'll get the extra pixel. [ Random(speedboost("localPlayer") //where speedboost = 2 ]

What's OINC?

Ok, I've completely redone Zombie Tag. (well, its not done yet and it still has the same graphics)

With Lacewing, I've made a 10x more awesome interface and I've redone the buggy events.

I used hidden editboxes so that I could make a semi trans chat box. (per request of Jamie :) )

Now, Zombie Tag has a user friendly interface that allows you to have more than one channel/game at a time. It also has a chat system, and allows you to set room passwords. It even allows you to change the server if you are experiencing problems!

The movement is working but I still have to code:

- Line of Sight
- Tagging
- Spawning
- Ending the game

BUT BEFORE I DO:

I need some feedback on the Line of Sight. There are some sacrifices that need to be made in terms of speed if there is to be a really nice Line of Sight - especially if I want to make this a Flash game. So, what method should I use, and who should be more limited - the Zombies or the Humans?

Speaking of limitations, I don't know who I want to be faster, or if I want one to be faster (Zombies or humans). I will probably make them the same speed.

Also, the fog of war goes with the Line of Sight - should I make the Zombie's visibility greater than the human's like before? Or should I make them equal?

My proposal:

- Equal Fog of War
- Equal Speed
- Zombie is limited with LOS, whereas the human can see other humans but needs LOS for the zombie

Any thoughts?

Updated OINC

OINC has been updated, and so has Zombie Tag.

Hopefully it works properly now.

I will always update the OINC client in Zombie Tag as soon as I hear new OINC builds come out, don't worry ;)

Now uses Klikfarm

Temporarily, I have modified the Zombie Tag game to use server.klikfarm.com in order to allow testing at times when my server is not running.

This means you can test at ALL TIMES! :D

I also made sure I used the newest OINC extension, which the channels are now bug free.

The fact that there were some mishaps in the switch to the new OINC means I still have not had any tests run! Please help me test this game and provide feedback before I lose interest in making it!

The "Lock Channel" feature will be fixed to unlock automatically if user count drops below 3. I am planning on also having the button appear only if the count is above 3.

Please provide feature ideas as well, anything to get this game back into the fast lane!

EDIT: A LOT OF ERRORS!

Please wait until the next upload. I believe there is something wrong but it doesn't make sense to me at this time. If you could help explain why might the characters do not see each other even the code has not been changed, that would be a HUGE help!

I haven't tested it yet with more than one person

New features/fixes:

-Host defined start of portal creation/game start, hopefully fixing the 3rd person crash bug
-If host leaves, everyone else should be forced to restart as well
-Crash bug fixed on restart
-Smoother hole
-Less jams on spawn
-Tag is done Zombie-side

Hope I get some feedback ;)

PS: hopefully the game will end correctly, the check has been fixed (I think)

Zombie Tag

Zombie Tag is an online multiplayer game. It's mainly infection tag - one person gets defined as 'it' (Zombiefied) and the rest have to run for their lives! If you get 'tagged' (Your brain sucked) you join the zombie and try to get the others. Last one to be a zombie wins!
