Does any one else have trouble using the controls. When I test it the arrow keys don't work

If you provide a better quality screenshot, I can put this on the frontpage.

I redownloaded it and it still didn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is really getting on my nerves. Angry I'm going to try making it a downloadable game, but Do you have any ideas on how I can fix it???

jokeman248's picture

Ok, so I made it a downloadable game and now it's saying it's invalid. Can you try it and tell me if it works for you. Gosh, I just can't win today.

This vitalized one works fine, see my comment on the downloadable version.

As for the game, it is an ok game, although I am disturbed by the fact that the *CRUCH* noise is the same as in That Snake Game, but I'll let that one slide. To be perfectly honest the game moves a bit too slow to make it addicting. It's a fun play though. The concept of health is as bit confusing too. Touching some odd little electric looking things goes half down and hitting the spikes goes full down. It'd be better off with no health or electric things. Touch the spikes and die. I was also disappointed when I realized this was a premade level. It'd be a lot more fun if you had it randomly spawning platforms, as most games of this type do.
Finally, the high-score board: It's not online, so there really is no point making imaginary people who I have to compete my score with. Those types of single player score boards were boring back when the dinosaurs thought of them, and they still are. I personally think you should take the score and give it a rank, like EXPERT, BEGINNER, LOSER, EPIC FAIL, or something like that. A lot of different funny ranks make it more fun trying to reach the top rank which is something like GODLIKE POWERS or BOUNCE WIZARD.

You were close, but no cigar.

Summary: Get rid of the electric things, health, and maybe bump up the speed, randomize the platforms, and give ranking. Then you have yourself an addicting game.

Keep working on it. Oh also, if you ponder my suggestions, you should add bonus score items like in pacman, the fruits.

Good luck, this game has high pontential. You might also want to make some better graphics so the game can be taken a little more seriously.

I hope none of that was offending, but my goal is to tell it like it is. Had I said it was a beautiful, flawless game, you would learn nothing.

Cheers,
-Eliyahu

EDIT: It says I rated this as 10 on my computer on my post (but not on the other rating section) so I would like to say I give it a 4.

Well, the crunch is the same because both snake and this got it from the click disc. It's okay and fun, but I agree it is a little slow to be addictive. It just seems so unpolished to... Probably the graphics causing that.

Vitalize arrow keys makes my screen move up and down. I'll try download.

RickyRombo's picture

It works fine for me, vitalized.

By the way, if you let the player replay the game right away, it would be way more addicting Eye-wink

at least don't use the highscore object because that makes a pop up that doesn't auto focus. or atleast allow the user to choose to add there score to a personal highscore list

also have it scroll at the speed of the player, not the speed of the spikes. The spikes should be moving up so that the player can get ahead possibily.

Might be nice to add additive difficulty, eg the spikes go faster as it gets higher, if you haven't already

Well, I had tried making it so the player moves the screen, but everytime the player got ahead of the spikes and you couldn't see the spikes, the spikes would stop moving untill you went back down and you could see them again Sad

Thanks for all the advice, I put up an upgraded version with better graphics, faster spikes, and put in different ranks you get when you get a certain amount of points

RickyRombo's picture

Select the spikes and uncheck "Deactivate when out of frame window" and "Destroy when too far from frame" turn to No
