Darkfate is an adventure game.

The story begins in a total mess. Chris Freeman lands up surrounded by mountains, not knowing where he comes, or who he is. Worried by loneliness and unknowing, he is leaving the place at the pursuit of answers, and is on the way to solve the many mysteries which reign in this place…
The discovery of this hero with no past is going to be no less than moving and enigmatic.

I need CS_blurxy.fx, or else the application won't open.

Wow, probably the most atmospheric game in the compo. I was positively surprised.

Gameplay – 19/20 - Perfect?
General Professionalism – 7/10 - It needs HWA, which is almost unseen because of graphic style, last level totally doesn't work for me, and it's a bit low action.
Appropriate Graphics to the Game - 5/5 -Oh yeaah...
Appropriate Music and Sounds – 5/5 - Mummy!
5 POINT BONUS Event: 0/5 - Not all events are commented.
5 POINT BONUS Flash/Java: 0/5 - Not compatible extensions.

Total 36/50 = 72% = 7*

I enjoyed this game except for at the end I had the same problem as Fanotherrpg where it bugged for me and wouldn't load the last level.

Up to that point, the storyline was very engaging and I enjoyed it.

However I found it hard to jump sometimes where pressing both up and a direction at the same time would simply leading to walking off a cliff. I often had to press up then start moving when I was in mid air.

Just a personal opinion: I think it would have been better to have the journal entries display for a longer period of time so that you didn't have to stop moving to read them. If they lasted the whole 'screen' as you moved across then that would be good because you would be able to read it all without stopping.

Also bug in the main menu: When you select 'New Game' and it starts to fade, you can still move around the menu and select other options.

"5 POINT BONUS Event: 0/5 - Not all events are commented." ?
All events are commented and even groups ! Is this because it's in french ? :O

About the last level, it's strange, you should try the .exe version to play.

Anyway, thanks for your comments.
I hope you liked the adventure, it's a lot of work.

comments in french when the games is in english - thats a poor excuse.
started well, ended badly when i realize half way through i wasnt playing a game at all.
felt like playing a platformer story book. if it didnt end like it did, or you could atleast explore or interact with the world you were creating, it would have been much better. as it is; its very linear, with a really aweful ending.

Great atmosphere, good story, a fascinating game. Awesome sound effetcs and "music" too. Of course it lacks interaction, but hey, this was made with 20 events. Congratulations to Twiner ;)

"5 POINT BONUS Event: 0/5 - Not all events are commented." ?

@fanotherpg - when there are multiple events inline that are all doing the same thing (i.e. counter = 1 do this, counter = 2 do that) one comment should suffice to explain what each are doing.

the 5 POINT BONUS for comments states "Fully commented event editor (each event line in the program is given a reasonable description of its purpose)" not "Every Single Event Is Commented". One Comment can be completely appropriate and sufficiently descriptive for multiple events that do the same/similar thing.

This game definitely deserves all 5 bonus points from you fanotherpg.

Beautiful game.

I loved the graphics, the atmosphere and the music.
The story was very interesting and moving, but I had the same problem - I didn't get to see the ending, so I viewed it through the .MFA file.

Amazing game, I want to see more of it in the future.
