As many of us here at GameBuilder develop games for the windows operating system, it is an important event that Microsoft's brand new OS, Windows 7, has been released. And it's definitely a huge step up from Vista. It's got the nice look of vista with the speed of XP, a shiny new task bar, and lot's of other new features. Check out CNET's full review
It's got a pretty high price tag, but the good news is that if you are a student, you may be able to upgrade for only $29.

sexy like vista, fast and stable like xp? hmmm. might look into this madness.
I would like to upgrade. But I don't really want to reinstall everything. Good thing steam lets me save all my games to a disk so I don't have to re-download them.
If you have vista, you can upgrade to windows 7 and it will keep all of your stuff installed.
Yeah, But I always like to do clean installs. They seem to run better for me.
Oh, that's true. It's like a brand new PC after a clean install
I'm contemplating getting the student discount, but I'm holding out in the hope my school's bookstore will get ultimate for $7 rather than the $30 at that site.
I generally don't like upgrading, I prefer clean installs, (even if there's no noticeable speed difference, it feels messy) but I do have a lot of software on my laptop, including several programs that I'm only supposed to be able to install once. I've activated office on four of my family's computers (one defunct) so I'm afraid my code will no longer work with a clean install. :S
I'll probably back up my hard drive, upgrade, then install it fresh on another hard drive, and compare.
What's Windows?
LOL!
