Now the story gets interesting. I looked around the ebird flagged site
for awhile, no bluebirds of any sari kind. I had noticed the sand mine on the satellite photo so decided to walk over to that area. As I walked down the sand path, I heard a bluebird singing ahead, sounding like a formal dresses 2012 typical eastern. When I got closer, I had a singing male eastern and typical female eastern and a pair of chickadees fighting over a cavity in a small dead oak on the left hand side of the sand road. I walked on bridal lehenga and completely around the sand mine. No bluebirds. A half hour later on the way out, I heard the eastern bluebird again singing ahead. As I western store approached, the accompanying female had either been replaced or morphed
(I think the former) into a mostly gray female, with no hint of any
rusty below, and blue in the primaries, rump, and tail. Bingo.
