Score Board competition!

Time for a competition!

Here are the rules:

#your game must use GB's online high score system
#your game will be submitted by January 3rd
#games will be judged by me and the winner gets 15 dollars via paypal (25 if at least 3 people join in)

Here is how i will judge:
-your games will be graded on a scale of 1 to 10 on how much fun they are
-if two games tie, they will then be judged on graphics instead (otherwise, graphics will not be judged)

To get your own score board you need to have a GB account:

After you get an account, you can set up your board here:

I might create an online arena style game for this. I'll enter if I can!

But if I make an online game, but I be assured that you'll play it against a real world oponnent not just yourself? That can affect the score dramatically!

Eliyahu's picture

Wiiman, I am interested in how you plan on making an online game have a scoreboard....in online games one person usually just wins.
Well I look forward to your entry!

Ricky's picture

Yeah, I don't see how you can have a score in a Vs multiplayer game.

OldManClayton's picture

... Lots of multiplayer games work on the basis of getting a higher score than your opponent. O_o

Ricky's picture

Yeah but, that doesn't make sense for posting your high score online as you can easily cheat by playing against someone who purposely helps you get a high score.

OldManClayton's picture

That would only happen if your score depends on the actions of the other person. Often they don't. I could see why it would be neat to be able to play a live opponent, and then if you have a high score, have it posted for others to see your awesomeness.

Meh, it would be a pain.

Eliyahu's picture

Well the main purpose of playing online is to face another player. If their actions meant nothing, that kind of defeats the purpose of multiplayer.

OldManClayton's picture

Not really. It depends on the game. I think everyone keeps thinking there's only one type of online game. :P

If a good multiplayer game has to have direct influences on an opponent's outcome rather than just playing concurrently, then Non-battle guitar hero online is no good, alternating racing ghosts is no good, finishing a puzzle in a lower time is no good, lasting longer in a survival mode is no good, etc.

In fact, pining for the highest score in a score board is no good. Making it online just means you get to see the others whose scores you are trying to beat play the game. :)

EDIT: Remember, I'm not speaking of Wiiman's effort specifically. xD I'm not even speaking of online games in general. I just mean it's not impossible to have an online game with a high score board. green

Eliyahu's picture

Well obviously it's not impossible, but it'll be interesting to see how Wiiman does it.

OldManClayton's picture

Indeed!

Wiiman's picture

Well, Ricky I'm planning on an online game with little side minigames, like the barricade mode on slaughter that would have online scores

Can you submit more than one game?

-Thanks, Variant

Fun, or general gameplay?

because my game is "fun", it's just not very exciting or stimulating...

"Fun, or general gameplay?

Was that a reply to this:

"Can you submit more than one game?

-Thanks, Variant"

And you can use extensions too right?

-Thanks Again, Variant

Eliyahu's picture

Variant, RickyRombo was asking an entirely different question, not answering any.

You'll have to wait for Rickyg to answer your question, or just PM him.

Ricky, RickyRombo, Ricky123, Rickyg...
...I'm so confused. :(
Sorry.

Oh on here, Rickyg=Ricky.
Rickyg is his Clickteam name.
RickyRombo is just a random guy.

Ohhh, okay, I guess.

when is it?

RickyRombo's picture

The submission date expired...

"#your game will be submitted by January 3rd"

so both of your questions are irrelevant

I'm very random, but I'm not "just a random guy" 8)

Online games are played over some form of computer network, now typically on the Internet. One advantage of online games is the ability to connect to multiplayer games, although single-player online games are quite common as well.

It is always hard to predict what the next generation of video game could possibly be online as the industry sector of online gaming is developing at dramatic speed. Ever since the most traditional version of Mario Games till the latest online games, a lot of changes have been made in the business sector.
