Gameplay was fun at times, but it got kind of frustrating because everything seemed to move so slowly, like opening gates, riding elevators, and walking up stairs. The default controls were also little weird. I played the game for like fifteen minutes without knowing that I could press q to go to the left. This game fits the horror theme very well. There were only a couple sound effects and they got pretty annoying after the first couple times I heard them. There was no music to accompany the game. Even though there was no music, there was still a pretty good Atmosphere. I can see that a lot of work went into this game, but the the lack of music and buggy gameplay hurt the score.

Adam's Comments

The screenshots for this game excited me quite a lot. I must say, I think it has some of the best graphics in the entire competition. However, after a couple of times sticking to walls and repetitive sounds, I started to lose interest. The atmostphere and theme were very satisfying, with nice use of alpha channels/gradients in the art work. I just wish the bugs could have been ironed out a little more, and better sounds could have been used- this would probably win it.

How do you place things into the inventory?

EDIT: Ahh, it's double click. This needs to be explained some where.

This is really good. Default controls are a bit odd and the title screen music is very very depressing but besides that, surely one of the best in this comp.

Thanks, default controls are for AZERTY keyboard (you can change the controls with ctrl+y)

This is pretty good. Takes a little too much CPU up on my computer, so I don't think I'll rate it. BTW, isn't this a fan game?

Well, to be honest, the game Spacecry seemed pretty good for a first few minutes but then on, it turned dull since there was not much one could to further the thrill. Much of that could be because of the slow pace of the game play. Even worse were the controls which were extremely hard for my taste to adapt to. The graphics and all are OK and I think it is the game play that lacks the punch! I would certainly recommend to look for better game deals rather than this one.
