Spring Competition!
Let's start the new year off with a competition.
The rules:
1. Your game must have either an Easter, Spring, or Saint Patrick's Day theme.
2. All games must be submitted by March 23rd.
3. Don't take anyone's graphics or sounds without permission.
4. You will submit a .zip file containing the .mfa and any supporting files.
5. You can only use one Bonus to get extra points.
Scoring:
Presentation: 10 points
Graphics: 10 points
Sound/music: 10 points
Fun: 10 Points
Bonus: X Points
There are several ways to earn bonus points, you can only chose one:
1. Only use active objects, backdrops, strings, and quick backdrops (8 points)
2. Every thing is in 1 frame in your game (10 points)
3. Game uses 160x120 resolution or lower (5 points)
Prizes: I'm going to try to find prizes, until then
1st prize is $50 via paypal
2nd Prize is $20 via paypal and A T-shirt
3rd Prize is a T-shirt
4th is a mouspad

I think I'll enter. The theme will be hard for me though, the horror theme came pretty easily
Making a sunny spring game will be hard for me. I can probably get the first bonus though! I prefer not to use extra extensions anyway. But yeah, I think I'll enter!

If making a spring game is hard for you then don't wiiman, you can make it an Easter game or a Saint Patricks Day game.

I promise the scores for this will be done within 1 to 2 weeks after the submission period ends. I don't know why the Halloween results aren't in yet.

I have a question. for the ten-point bonus, does that mean that the gameplay is confined to one frame? (As in you can also have a title frame, etc.) Or does it mean "If you have two frames in your game, you don't get the bonus?"
You get more for the bonuses than you do for the game itself!
RedEchina, to get the bonus, there can be only one frame in your .mfa
It is up to you to figure out how to incorporate a title screen, game etc... all in the frame. All the bonus points are all or nothing, (you can not win partial credit). And you game will be graded down in the presentation category if you cut directly to the game, with no title screen or instructions.
Also, 3klickphilip, stop talking about the Halloween compo, I'm not involved with that and I don't know why the results are not in.
Also, loading data from external files is allowed and is encouraged.
So we could have a one frame .mfa and have all of the other frames play by sub apps?
because sub apps are basically the same as .mfa's. No you can't use them to earn credit

I doubt I'll win, but those ten bonus points will definately help.

Is there a maximum file size limit? How 'big' on average should the games be? :?
no file size limit, however, I might not be in a good mood when grading a 100MB game (unless the awesomeness of the game justifies it).
There goes my idea for ten thousand giant rotating leprechauns across 60 frames.

This website is for all games, no matter what they are made with.
However, this competition is click only. Reason being, i need to see people's source files.
When can we submit these? My small little arcade game is finished, and I'd hate to forget to submit it.

Im making mine in one frame, too. Dont count on victory, im almost done! hehehe }:) Its a shooter where you play as the Easter Bunny to save Spring or whatever...
Hey if we qualify for more than one bonus, which one do we get? I always only use actives, strings, backdrops and quick backdrops, but if I lose points, I'll throw in a string parser or something.
