The Tongue

Once upon a time, there was a scientist. He was incredibly brilliant and spent all of his time in his lab, not due to him not wanting to leave, but rather due to the fact that his enormous bulk prevented him from leaving regardless of whether he wanted to or not.

If one were to point out any one flaw he had, there would be little doubt as to the answer: His insuppressible hunger. As the one thing that could take his mind off the prospectual scientific frontiers he pursued, he would eat anything and everything he was offered, tirelessly, until no more sustenance could be found.

Once everything in the nearby vicinity had been devoured he would move on to other things. Small mammals, keys, even the test tubes in the lab. They had a peculiar taste to them, but they were definitely edible, and edible things are to be eaten. However, eating the test tubes caused a number of unforeseen changes in his body... particularly when he decided to gulp down a test tube filled with gecko DNA. This was unprecedented - the scientist underwent a change, becoming something more than man. Actually, he mostly just got an extendable tongue that could stick to stuff. But that's handy in its own right!

Now, having achieved the ultimate science, he must use his new-found powers to eat stuff and escape the lab in which he was previously trapped...
