Last night a person was asking on the tdc forums if he can make money from his games on the TDC arcade. I replied and let him know that they don't currently let you do that on TDC, but he could make money here at Gamebuilder in the meantime. Rikus saw this and deleted it. I still managed to give the person the info via email and just to let Rikus know he didn't win I mailed him to.
My email:
"Hey Rikus. The guy who's thread you deleted. I emailed him to give him an answer to his question. Have fun suppressing information. I enjoy fighting it."
Rikus later removed the GB button and replied:
"There is no need to spam the site with gamebuilder arcade "info". Why not put all that attention to the GB site instead of trying to get people trough here? You know my stand on that. I detest the fact there is a community site out there thats not really a community site but more a clickteam promotion booklet run by fans. Also to release the "gb arcade" a week before tdc-arcade goes into action and call the news "a reason to celebrate", congrats to Adam but that really did piss me off completly. So good for you guys.
Oh and I guess that cynical mr nice guy cape is finally off. Fine. You go ahead and enjoy "fighting" But hey, there is nothing to fight. This is NOTHING against you or you trying to promote this booklet good on you, I would do the same thing but dont get pissy with me when I try protect this site. It is hard enough to keep it online, I wont let gb get freeby ads or clicks by spamming the forums, not anymore.
Oh and please dont pm me back. Put that focus on the gb site make it better post news, why waste time with me? "
How should I respond?
To be fair, i guess i do shamelessly plug GB a bit too much on tdc, So Rikus's first 2 sentences were o.k.
Rikus is a powermad person and always has been. He rarely makes games and I'd be surprised if he actually likes playing half the games on TDC.
He has a habit of desperately using people to help TDC (his empire of hormonal teens) go further, like the Arcade competition at the moment. I remember when he scrounged graphics from me for that terrible egg game of his (luckily they certainly weren't my best)
He will have been dying to get rid of that GB link for a while now, just waiting for an excuse to.
Rikus = stupid jealous putz.
The button is back now, so maybe rikus didn't really mean some of the things he said.
Oh he meant it alright.
Rikus is trying to deal with his hormones
Don't mind him - he's a good guy
No, he's not.
Do you know him in person?
I would also suggest being cooperative with their website. Increases more interest if your websites are linked.
Cecil and Ricky participate there frequently, just as we have OMC and JonLambert frequently participating over here. I thought we were fine, until I found out rikus detests the existence of GB.
WOW!
I wonder why kindly answering people's questions is considered spamming. And why it is considered rude to answer people's questions but it's okay to ignore and delete people's questions.
Also I am completely offended that we are "not really a community site but more a clickteam promotion booklet run by fans". Is TDC not also run by clickteam fans? They even have the word "click" in their name.
I thought it would be assumed that when clickteam releases a new product that allows people to make arcade-like games, that some new arcades might pop up. GB arcade was released actually just around the same time as the announcement that TDC arcade would be released the following week. We did not know we were releasing GB arcade a week before TDC arcade. We had been working on it since the release of flash... before we knew TDC arcade was about to be released. It was a natural reaction to the release of flash.
But whatever... I don't care. We don't need a GB button...we don't provide a TDC button so it is fair in that respect. We already get lots of traffic from our sidebar space on Clickteam Forums anyway. I think you should honor his request and not respond.
