Comments
Gameplay – 18/20 - It's game worth trying, and trying, and trying!
General Professionalism – 7/10 - Everything is great, but there are some slight issues (after changing fullscreen back to window mode) or enemies which appears after clearing zone.
Appropriate Graphics to the Game - 5/5 - Wonderful.
Appropriate Music and Sounds – 5/5 - Like GFX.
5 POINT BONUS Event: 0/5 - Maybe not all events are commented one by one, but if there is such situation it is group which does similar thing... So not sure especially because of deep comments - but they are only translations of action one by one.
5 POINT BONUS Flash/Java: 0/5 - Some actions are not supported in either Java App or Applet.
Total 35/50 = 70% = 7*
Thanks for the comments Fanotherpg.
About enemies appearing at the end of levels, it was something I was content to leave as is, if not even prefer it that way. You basically just fly through a thick fleet in each level, then once through the thickest part, are safe enough, but the enemies will remain present in the area. Enemies shooting stuff while they're exploding is another story though, and something I could've probably perfected.
Quite cruel to require bonus points for a full score though. They're BONUS points, afterall.
I left java/flash support out on purpose even. But still, when it comes to feedback, comments are worth more than ratings, and aside from these technical non-game-itself related details, looks like I scored big in your review, so thanks! :geek:
Yea I know that they are bonus points, but it would be strange to get 45/40 for example. So I decided to treat is a a whole thing.
And about ships it was just that you flew through them and looked a bit weird.
For contest scoring it'd be strange, yes, but in case these project files become public as is, then looking at the scoring outside the contest would be a bit odd as well, with some games in the database having been scored on without the need for comments or java/flash export (non-contest entries), while others have (contest entries).
But like I said, I'd rather receive some good comments than a rating of any kind, so I'm just thinking principles 'n stuff here. One of my bad habits, haha.
Very Good
HitmanH, get know 1 thing I will score all games on the same basis.
Fanotherpg:
I know, that wasn't my point.
Ahh, nevermind. You score however you like.
I'll score the entries just like any other games on GB, since the entries will probably end up together with other games on the GB's 'games' page.
Yea, I know HN, just I didn't want you to though that I scored such because I want to score it on worst basic. I scored some entries on this rule and now I have to stick it. But still it's great peace of artwork.
Fanotherpg:
That's cool. And thanks again, I'm glad you liked the game.
And yea you're right it's not a bit fair scoring cause I make mistake treating bonus points as addition to total score :/ So sorry for that. And I have to delete your game because it's still disturbing me with testing of other entrants
Fanotherpg:
Still working on it though, but should be done in a day or two. Will probably post it on TDC.
Cool. If you like it that much, then you should check out the online hi-scores edition.
It's a very cool and professional game, but I feel like its been done too many times...
Haha but you did it in only 20 events per frame
To RickyRombo:
Thanks! I was indeed aiming for a good looking and bug-free game, rather than anything totally unique, so that's a fair statement.
I know you weren't reaching for something totally unique, but this has some well-implemented features that I was impressed with. The gun upgrades and overheating introduce a pretty strong tactical element, and encourage multiple plays to test each weapon in its various powered-up states.
The graphics, presentation, music are all wonderful. I'd use the word "professional" here without flinching, and that's not something that happens often when talking about MMF games. The amount of action you packed into 20 events is commendable too.
My only wish is that the game could present more of a challenge. There is the Marathon mode, but I would have happily struggled through the main game even if the difficulty had been set much higher. Nice work
Thank you.
I never really intended the Mission mode to be 'main game' in that sense. Or rather I did start with just the Mission mode, but even before finishing the first area, I was already set on making the Marathon mode the challenging mode, while leaving the Mission mode as a sort of tutorial. I've heard some people struggling even with Mission mode though, so I do think it serves its purpose as a casual game mode for the less experienced gamers.
On a slightly unrelated note, an online hi-scores version is basically finished, but I'm working on something else extra I'll probably add first, before making the online hi-scores public. (To anyone interested, keep an eye on the project page at TDC: http://create-games.com/project.asp?id=1802 )
